Can I install the loader myself? I need the loader but the dealer isn't close. Is this a weekend job or am I getting in over my head? Special tools required?

Thanks.

I am not an expert, as I haven't received my BX1800 yet. It is due to arrive sometime next week. But the dealer did send the manuals, and the manual for the Loader goes through how to install it and set it up. I only skimmed it over so far, so I don't know for sure if speical tools are required, but I don't think so. I think it will also make a difference if you already have the valve installed because of a front blade or snow blower. If not, then the hydraulic lines have to be installed along as well. This requires removing the rear tire, and routing the lines according to my recollection from looking at the book.

Depending on your ability to wing wrenches, will dictate as to how much of the weekend you will loose. I have people I sell to that I would like to hire as mechanics and yes I do believe they can do it. I also know of some customers that when it comes to wrenches and the thought process needed to assemble that I would hate to see them try it. The extra time they would take and they probably still would call and have us finish it after they are frustrated enough. ....

Stuart: I talked to my Kubota dealer today Steve Barlow Tractor Sales Somerset, Ky., since you and I did not work out a deal. He said he will give you a good deal on a fel for your tractor or any other implements you need. He has beat every price I've seen on this board to date for tractors and implements. I've bought 3 Kubota tractors and several implements from him in the last 15 months. I'm also an extreme researcher for price before I buy. No, I don't get a commission just trying to help a fellow Kubota man. ....

my la211 with the front grill guard (spend the money - it's worth it) and the valve was $2658 plus tax picked up, installed and delivered back in 2000 from the previous owner. He had the purchase order in the docs that came with my machine.

Do not forget rear ballast or the loader is useless for anything but mulch. I made a 3 point block of cement out of a metal garbage can, a length of steel rod, 2 eye bolts for the top link and several bags of redimix. It works well and comes right off when you don't need it. These little machines are very unstable with a good load and no rear weight. ....

Go to the "other tractor site" and do a search for "BX1500 FEL Questions and Idle Questions"

This link will have pictures and a description on how to install the FEL.
